Paul and the Communication Breakdown

Paul had arrived in his green VW bus and I had to call him. I had four different phones in front of me and each one I tried dialing from wouldn't work. It was increasingly frustrating: number keys wouldn't correspond to the numbers, or I'd continually misdial and have to start again. Finally he left. Later, though, I think I ran into him.

A dream Melanie had of me:

I dreamt that you and Chris Heeter were married and had a baby. We were at a gas station and Chris was wearing a suit and tie and his white hair was parted and combed to the side. His hair was no longer blonde-white but white-white. Because the coloring was so similar to the what he had as a child he didn't look much different from how he looked in elementary school. He was giving a lecture at the pumps and your baby was being baby-sat by the clerk in the convenience store. There were girl scout cookies scattered about. I kept whispering to my neighbor (there were about 10 "students" gathered around the pumps) and Chris got pissed. I told him he was a shitty lecturer and if he didn't suck so bad, I wouldn't have to entertain myself by talking to the person next to me. It got quite heated. The lecture ended and we continued to talk by your father's El Camino. He sat on the edge of the bed and I told him that he needed to be more engaging, he needed to connect the material to real life or students would not get it. He sat there, thoughtfully, listening to my advice. I told him he needed to teach with integrity or it would all be for nothing.

And two nights ago:

Ren and I were reunited. We were in the process of planning our wedding, or getting married, and I remember thinking, Oh, so I guess this was meant to be all along.
