proof of life

I was sitting in a cafe, watching people pass by on the sidewalk, when a man slapped a receipt down on my table and scurried away. He had sketched my back while I daydreamed, unaware that anyone was watching.

On the bottom right corner it says, draw backs.

It was exactly what I needed: proof that this life is real.

Life's little surprises.

That's lovely.

Thatē—“ actually really cool.

That is so neat! What a great idea ~ I can see it becoming an underground art revolution.

Draw backs - so many layers of meaning...

It's funny. A couple winters ago, I was interested in snapping photographs of pedestrian's backs as they walked in front of me. These shots were blurry and hard to read ... Even still, I felt weird about the surveillance aspect.

But a drawing seems different. If someone had walked up and slapped down a Polaroid, I would have freaked. But the drawing was nice.

More on this later ...
